Cancer, Kidney Diseases or Liver Cirrhosis Treatment - Social Security Programme

Let me ask you a question. If you or any member of your family is diagnosed with cancer, Kidney Diseases or Liver Cirrhosis  the cost of treatment, whether in India or abroad, can range from ₹10 to ₹50 lakhs. Do you have sufficient savings or adequate insurance to cover this expense? If your answer is “yes,” then this “Social Security Scheme” is not for you. However, if your answer is “no,” you can choose to be a part of this plan.

Empowering Middle-Class Families in Times of Crisis

Cancer, Kidney and Liver Cirrhosis treatment can be an intimidating and financially overwhelming experience, especially for middle-class families. Unlike lower-income groups who receive government assistance or wealthier families who can easily afford the expenses, the middle class often struggles to secure the necessary funds for comprehensive cancer Treatment, Kidny Transplant and  Liver Transplant treatment with post care expenses. This harsh reality forces many to resort to selling personal assets or taking other drastic measures to obtain adequate financial support for treatment.

Introducing Our Innovative pre-commitment Crowdfunding Solution within members only without any fixed expenses

Flashstar Foundation is a non-profit organization and a public limited Section 8 company. Recognizing the difficulties faced by middle-class families in raising large amounts for expensive medical treatments, and understanding the urgent need of countless families across India, the Foundation has launched a pioneering “Social Security Scheme” specifically designed for middle-class families. Our innovative approach utilizes a structured crowdfunding model, where members contribute a pre-committed maximum amount  up to Rs. 100/-, ensuring that when a group member requires urgent financial assistance for medical treatments, the necessary support is readily available.

Understanding the Foundation of the Social Security Program

It’s a well-known fact that adding a teaspoon of salt to a glass of water makes it so salty that it becomes undrinkable. However, when the same amount of salt is added to a bucket of water, the saltiness becomes less noticeable. Similarly, if you add a teaspoon of salt to a 10,000 liter water tank or a lake, the change in taste is barely perceptible.

This analogy demonstrates how challenges, like saltiness, can feel overwhelming when faced alone but become almost negligible when shared or distributed across a larger group of 10,000 people.

Understanding the Social Security Scheme

Social security refers to the protection provided by a foundation to members, individuals and households, ensuring access to healthcare and guaranteeing income security. Social security schemes are initiatives where non-governmental organizations offer financial assistance to members who require funds for medical treatment or other essential needs.

Foundation has launched a pioneering social security program specifically designed for middle-class families. Our innovative approach utilizes a structured crowdfunding model, where members contribute a pre-committed maximum amount up to Rs. 100/- for each group member, ensuring that when a group member requires urgent financial assistance for medical treatments, the necessary support is readily available.

Understanding the Cancer Diseases Treatment

One of the most common essential illnesses in India is cancer. It is slowing becoming a mass killer and has taken more than 17.3 lakh people under its grasp. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the number of estimated deaths due to cancer is more than 8.8 lakh by 2020. The treatment of cancer is emotionally and financially challenging.  If the family’s breadwinner gets diagnosed with the disease, the suffering is never-ending.

There are several types of cancer such as liver cancer, colon cancer, blood cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, etc. Treatment expenditure involves frequent doctor visits, chemotherapy, medicine costs and pre- and post-hospitalization expenses. A single medicine can cost around Rs.75000 to Rs.1 lakh, and a single chemotherapy session can cost anything between Rs.1 to 2 lakh. All in all, the expenses can go up to Rs.10-15 lakh.

Understanding the Kidney Diseases. (Kidney Transplant)

In India, 1 out of 10 people suffers from some chronic kidney disorder. Every year, around 1.75 lakh people suffer from kidney failure and need dialysis or a kidney transplant. As we all know that dialysis and organ transplant is quite expensive, which makes it unaffordable for a larger mass. A kidney transplant costs around Rs. 7 lakh whereas dialysis can cost you anywhere between Rs. 18,000-20,000 per session. For a middle-class family, the charges are quite expensive, and many may find it difficult to bear.

Understanding the Liver Cirrhosis Diseases – (Liver Transplant)

The increased causes of liver cirrhosis are increased intake of alcohol and obesity-related disorders. Every year, around 10 lakh people are diagnosed with the same. According to the World Health Organization, liver cirrhosis is the 10th most common cause of death in India. The only way to treat this disease is a liver transplant. The treatment of this ailment costs approx. Rs. 10-20 lakh.

What is Concept of Cancer Treatment Programme?

The cost of cancer treatment is approximately ₹25 to ₹50 lakhs. If you have such an amount saved or adequate insurance, accessing treatment would not be a challenge. However, if you lack sufficient funds or insurance, financing the treatment could become a significant hurdle.

To address this, we propose a simple solution: let’s form a group with our friends, relatives, and neighbors, comprising about 50,000 people. As a group, we agree on a mutual understanding—if any member is diagnosed with cancer, each of us will contribute a maximum up to ₹100 as a donation for their treatment. [Total cost of treatment / Number of group members]

This way, through the collective contribution of all members, the affected person can afford the treatment without bearing the financial burden alone. Likewise, if you are diagnosed with cancer, the other members will collectively raise up to ₹50 lakhs for your treatment.

The best part is that you only need to contribute if someone in the group is diagnosed with cancer. Until that happens, there’s no payment obligation. Unlike traditional insurance, which requires thousands of rupees annually, this plan involves no recurring expenses.

In simple terms, it’s a mutual agreement between individuals: If I get cancer, you give me ₹100, and if you get cancer, I’ll give you ₹100. Each person’s (Group Members) maximum liability is just ₹100 per other member in the group.

How It Works

  1. Commitment to Contribute: Every participant in the program (Group) agrees to contribute a small maximum amount up to Rs.100 if any member denoised disease cancer, Kidney Disease or Liver transplant. This minimal contribution is intended to be affordable for all members of a Middle Class Family, while collectively accumulating substantial resources.

  2. Group of Support: By joining the program, you become part of a supportive community of up to 50,000 individuals. If any member is diagnosed with a serious illness requiring cancer  Kidney or Liver disease treatment, the pooled contributions from the group will be allocated through the contributon initiative to ensure timely care for the affected member. This non-refundable financial assistance will cover actual treatment expenses, capped at a maximum of Rs. 50,00,000/- (calculated as Group Members x Rs. 100).

  3. Comprehensive Coverage: The funds raised through this pre-commitment members’ contribution initiative will support essential aspects of cancer, Kidney or Liver treatment. This includes covering hospital charges, medication costs, laboratory testing fees, and, if required, travel expenses for advanced therapies abroad. Our objective is to provide financial assistance for actual treatment expenses or up to ₹50,00,000 per case, ensuring that every affected individual receives the best possible care without financial constraints..

  4. Transparent and Reliable: Unlike traditional crowdfunding methods, which can leave donors unsure about the utilization of their contributions, our Social Security Scheme ensures complete transparency. Each member contributes a fixed, nominal, and equal amount, which is pre-allocated and efficiently managed to deliver timely and reliable support.
